# Inductor structure and working principle

Inductor structure: The simplest inductance coil is to wind a few turns with a wire hollow, and use a wire to wind a few turns on a magnetic core or an iron core.

Normally, the inductor is composed of iron core or magnetic core, bobbin and coil. Among them, the coil winding is on the skeleton, and the iron core or magnetic core is inserted into the skeleton. The structure diagram of several coils is shown in the figure below.

No matter which kind of inductor, it is made by winding several turns of wire. Depending on the number of turns and whether there is a magnetic core, the inductance of the inductor is different, but the characteristics of the inductor are the same.

The working principle of the inductor: the working principle of the inductor is divided into two parts: one is the working process of the inductor after the inductor is energized, at this time the inductor generates a magnetic field by electricity; the other is the working process of the inductor in an alternating magnetic field, At this time, the inductor generates alternating current from magnetism.

The working principle of the inductor mainly explains the following points.

(1) When an alternating current is passed through the inductor, an alternating magnetic field is generated around the inductor. This magnetic field is called the original magnetic field.

(2) When direct current is applied to the inductor, a constant magnetic field of constant size and direction is generated around the inductor. (3) According to the law of electromagnetic induction, the change of magnetic flux will cause induced electromotive force in the conductor. The phenomenon of induced electromotive force generated by the inductor (current change in the coil (because of the alternating current) is called self-induction. Inductance is a quantity used to express the characteristics of self-induction.

(4) Self-induced electromotive force hinders the current change in the coil, and this hindering effect is called inductive reactance.

Usually the inductor has a magnetic core inside, and the inductance of the inductor is greater after the magnetic core is added.
